We list here some information about the OMG mountain huts located on the Cordillera Blanca. They are a point of support, safety and quality for many alpine expeditions.
The huts are open, every year, in the 1 May - 30 September timeframe. In the remaining periods of the year, guardiany service is available.
The cost for half board (bed, breakfast and dinner) at the huts is 30 US$.
For the "Giordano Longoni" shelter the cost is 8 US$/night/person;
the keys are available at the Hut Ishinca.
The quality of the huts has nothing to envy to the European huts. The following services are available:
The proceeds of the huts management are entirely set apart to projects for the help of poor people through the Operation Mato Grosso.
All the huts have radio coverage and they are connected with the support base of Marcarà.

From a letter of Father Ugo De Censi, founder of the Operation Mato Grosso:
«We built the huts PISCO, ISHINCA and HUASCARAN with a social intention, matured in thirty years of educational activities with thousands of young people (we call them "ORATORY OF THE ANDES").
All the funds (money or goods) that we collect hosting tourists in the huts are employed, through the Operation Mato Grosso, to assist and to treat the elders of the Cordillera and the most needy ones; to rebuild their huts; to improve the farming of the potato crops.
A part of these funds will be assigned to works for improvement of the trail conditions, for better trail signs, for tree nurseries...»
